Frequently asked questions

Are my tandas and money safe?
Yes. The important things (payments, confirmations, cycle closures) are done by the server, not the app. Security rules prevent anyone from editing other people's payments. And we validate that every action comes from the real app, not a modified version or a bot.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Your habits, goals, and reminders work without signal. Things that need someone else (invitations, tandas) sync on their own once you're back online.
What happens if I downgrade from Plus to Free?
Nothing gets deleted. If you had 12 habits and downgrade to Free (which only allows 8), the 4 extras stay in read-only mode. You decide which to archive — or you go back to Plus and everything is editable again.
Do you use AI for analytics?
No. Every analysis comes from your own data with formulas you can inspect. Tap "How was this calculated?" and the app explains it step by step. Your financial data doesn't leave the app — we don't send it to ChatGPT, Gemini, or anything similar.
What's a "tanda" — and how does it work?
A tanda is a centuries-old way of saving with friends or family. We use the Spanish word in Fociter because it captures the cultural feel of these agreements. You may also know it as a cundina (Mexico), pandero (Peru), pasanaku (Bolivia), susu (Caribbean and West Africa), hui (China and Vietnam), kye (Korea), or — formally — a ROSCA (rotating savings and credit association). The concept is the same everywhere: a group agrees to contribute a fixed amount on a schedule, and each cycle one person collects the whole pot.

In Fociter, when you create one you set the amount, frequency, and rotation order. Each cycle you mark "I paid" and the person collecting that cycle marks "I received." Only when everyone confirms does the cycle close and the next one begin. The order can't be changed afterwards, and if you want, the app records every move in your personal accounts.
Does Fociter move my money or process payments?
No. Fociter is a tracking app, not a payment processor. When you contribute to a tanda, settle a shared expense, or add to group savings, the money moves through whatever method you choose: bank transfer, Wise, Venmo, Zelle, cash, you name it.

Fociter just records the moves so the accounting is clean and everyone confirms what they gave and received. We will never ask for banking credentials or access your accounts. Your financial data doesn't leave your device or our encrypted servers.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, hassle-free. Cancel from your App Store or Google Play account in two taps. You keep access until the end of the month you already paid for, then you go back to Free without losing your data.
