Delete your data

Your information is yours. Here are three ways to delete it, step by step. No long forms, no weird waits.

Before you start, read this

When you delete data in Fociter, there's no going back. If you want to keep your financial history or your streaks, export your data first from Settings → Export my data. Takes less than a minute.

Start fresh (without losing your account)

If you want to reset your habits, finance, and goals but keep using the app with the same email, this is the option. The account stays, all the data goes.

Open the app and go to Settings Tap the gear icon in the bottom navigation bar.

Find the "Reset Data" section It's at the bottom of Settings, marked with a warning triangle. Tap to expand it.

Type 1234 in the confirmation field It's a simple code to make sure you're not tapping the button by accident.

Tap "Prepare reset" The red button. It starts a 5-second countdown so you have a chance to back out.

Wait for the countdown and tap "Confirm reset" When the counter hits 0, the button changes to Confirm reset. Tap it and the wipe runs.

Done. Your data is now blank. Your account stays active and you can start using the app from scratch with the same email and password.

Delete account and absolutely everything

The full wipe. Account, data, subscription, history — everything goes. This option fulfills your right to erasure under GDPR, CCPA, LFPDPPP, and similar laws.

Open the app and go to Settings Tap the gear icon in the bottom navigation bar.

Find the "Delete Account" button It's at the end of the "Reset Data" section, below the divider. A big red button with a trash can icon.

Tap it It opens a dedicated screen with the exact list of what will be deleted.

Read the warning and tap "I understand, continue" Take a moment to review. You'll see what gets deleted (account, transactions, habits, gamification, files) and why it's irreversible.

Type DELETE in all caps It has to be exactly like that, all caps. This prevents accidental deletion.

Verify it's you If you signed up with email/password, we'll ask for your current password. If you signed up with Google, we open a popup to verify with your Google account.

Tap "Delete Everything Forever" The final button. Once you tap it, the wipe runs immediately.

Done, all wiped. Your account and all your data are deleted. The process is immediate. If you had an active subscription, remember to cancel it in your App Store or Google Play (we can't cancel it for you).

The only thing we keep: minimal records required by law (anonymized payment logs, audit trail of the deletion). None of this is connected to you personally — it's tax and legal requirements that last as long as the law requires, and then they're deleted automatically.

Request it by email

If you've lost access to your account, don't have your device handy, or simply prefer that we do it for you, send us an email. Takes longer, but it works.

In the body, include: Your Fociter email, your name as it appears in the app, and the phrase: "I request the permanent deletion of all my data."

Wait for our reply We confirm within 48 business hours. By law we have up to 20 business days to fully process the request, but it's usually much faster.

When it's done we send you a confirmation email with the exact deletion date.

What gets deleted exactly?

When you delete your account (Option B) or request deletion by email (Option C), all this is permanently erased:

Personal data

  • Your email and credentials
  • Name, photo, configuration
  • Preferences and settings

Activity data

  • Transactions and accounts
  • Habits, goals, and streaks
  • XP, levels, and achievements
  • Shared groups and tandas
  • Notifications and invitations

Questions we get often

Can I cancel after tapping the button?
Deletion from the app is immediate and irreversible. Once you confirm, the data is gone. If you requested deletion by email and we haven't processed it yet, write to privacy@fociter.com quickly and we'll cancel it.
Can I save my data before deleting?
Yes. Before deleting, go to Settings → Export my data and download a CSV/JSON file with everything. We always recommend doing this first — it's your financial history and worth keeping.
If I just uninstall the app, does that delete my data?
No. Uninstalling only removes the app from your phone — your account and all your data are still on our servers. To actually delete it, follow one of the three options above.
What about my Plus subscription?
Account deletion doesn't automatically cancel your subscription — that's managed by Google Play, not us. Before (or after) deleting your account, go to your Google Play account and cancel there. There's no refund for the remaining time, but you also won't be charged again.
What about shared groups I'm in?
If you own the group, the group is archived with a 30-day grace period so other members can export their history.

If you're just a member, your entry in the group is marked as "Account deleted", but your name remains visible to the other participants. This is for the safety of the group: in savings circles and shared groups, the other members need to know who contributed and who received each cycle to reconcile payments. Your email, photo, and personal data are fully deleted.
Does this comply with GDPR, CCPA, and LFPDPPP?
Yes. Option B (delete account) implements the GDPR's "right to erasure," the CCPA/CPRA's "right to delete," and Mexico's LFPDPPP cancellation right. More detail in our privacy policy.
How long does deletion take?
From the app, immediate (seconds). By email, up to 48 business hours to process, with a legal max of 20 business days. Encrypted security backups rotate within 30 days, so within that window your data is gone from absolutely everywhere.
